The Federal College Education (Technical) Akoka is the first Technical Teachers College to be established in this country. Its unipurpose nature, with its sizeable student population of fewer than two thousand has contributed toward its unique characteristics of maturity and excellence. The academic programmes of the College initially consisted of five schools, namely;

The College organizes and sponsors conferences, seminars and workshops for its staff members under the aegis of The Research and Publication Committee. The Consultancy and Research Unit of the College also organizes Part-Time Programmes and In-Service training programmes and other short-time courses in response to the need of the community. Such courses include the Introduction to Librarianship and the computer Appreciation courses.
